Close Encounters in Yellowstone

Here’s the best two paragraph summary of three days in Yellowstone that I can give:

We stayed a night at the historic Old Faithful Inn, which is a few steps from Old Faithful geyser. Our room was an old, old wooden cabin. We explored the geothermal area, with geysers, hot springs, mud pots–it still barely seems real. It felt like we were walking on the moon.

We hiked about five miles in the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and had some amazing close-up views of waterfalls and Yellowstone River. We took a driving tour of the park and saw countless animals including lots of Bison, one of which approached our car so quickly and closely that if I had opened the door I would have hit it. I got a quick series of photos, but the last one was zoomed in too much. Instead of trying to get a better shot, we decided it was time to move on before we got rammed (although I tried to convince Amber that it would be a cool souvenir to have a Bison horn dent in the driver side door).
