We made a ridiculously long drive from the Grand Canyon to Denver. 650 miles, about 15 hours. By the time we arrived, it was 5am. We crashed in a Motel 6 for a few hours, but then got a better hotel in downtown Denver.
After exploring Denver and the surrounding area for a couple days, we took a trip up to Boulder and went to the Celestial Seasonings factory (located on Sleepy Time Drive). We got to take a tour of the factory, which included a few minutes locked in the mint room where they store all their mint tea apart from everything else because it’s so strong. Amber decided that if we have a spare bedroom in the next place we live, we are going to make it a mint room instead of an office.
Next, we visited our dear friends Torrey and Alana Kaddatz in Eagle, which is up in the mountains not too far from Vail. We went to Oktoberfest at Beaver Creek ski resort (where we met Thomas Jefferson sitting on a bench reading the Declaration of Independence) and got a tour of the small and beautiful town of Eagle and nearby Gypsum. On one of the days, we floated on inner tubes for about 6 miles down the Eagle River, which has to be one of the highlights of my life so far. It felt like I was living in a Mark Twain book.
Today we made the long drive to the luxurious Super 8 motel in Cody, Wyoming, founded by Buffalo Bill Cody. Tomorrow we’re going to hike, camp and hang out with bears in Yellowstone.
